| One day not too long ago I continued my search for the Dark Knight treasures. Remembering back to what Zied had told me, I packed up a few things (and a few supporters) and headed off to Castle Oztroja. This giant birdcage is no place for the weak, and no place I'd want to visit on a regular basis. After a few hours and the feeling of being caught in the movie 'The Birds', we finally made it to the top. Remembering back to my previous treasure hunting sessions, I expected to find one of these feathery freaks holding a key. Without delay we started fighting Yagudo, one by one. As expected, there was one Yagudo holding a key, which I immediately snatched up. Without delay the treasure hunt commenced. Maneuvering through the castle while avoiding birds proved difficult at the least. Long story short, I eventually found the old wooden box to which the key opened. I was excited to find within it a nice piece of armor. The spikes on the shoulders added a nice touch, but not too nice for those on the receiving end of a Shoulder Tackle.
At that point I thought my treasure hunting days were over. One day not too long after I run into Zied again, this time in Beadeaux, where my journey as Dark Knight began. He spoke of some troubles in Delkfutt's Tower, where the last of Gerwitz's possessed weapon trio was wreaking havoc. Zied said that I couldn't do anything without first getting some quadav blood right there in Beadeaux. Thus the Quadav slaughter commenced. Half a day and 8 trains later, I finally got enough blood to lure out that psycho weapon. Rounding up my friends again, I headed off to stifle the terror of the tower. Laughing at all the giants who used to be a challenge to me, I traveled up the tower to the point Zied had told me. Upon offering the blood, Gerwitz's Scythe appeared, and he had friends. It was a brawl, but in the end, we were victorious. As I left, I found a treasure chest with a note and a helmet inside. The note instructed me to take the helmet and use it. I immediately don my new gear and Zied appears once again to congratulate me. Not only that, he told me that by defeating the psycho weapon trio, I have completed my training as a Dark Knight. Here's a shot of me in my full Dark Knight gear.

From here on I will continue to hang out with my friends, while raising my craft skills and teaching my apprentice the way of the Dark Knight. I think I'll do some traveling, too. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| I realized the other day that it's been a while since I've updated my fans on my whereabouts and happenings. I left off after my relaxing vacation on the beach. Not too terribly long later I had an interesting experience. I came upon a young adventurer lost in the Horutoto ruins north of Windurst. After helping him out and chatting a while, I found out that he was an aspiring Dark Knight. After a lengthy conversation, he decided to adopt me as his mentor. I spent quite some time working with him, teaching him the way things go in this world of Vana'diel. After a significant amount of time, he was finally ready to walk the dark path that so many of us have walked before. I am eagerly awaiting to see whether or not the darkness will consume him before he can master it. But enough about that. Moving on...
Another holiday rolled around recently. This time Bastok was adorned with everything Spring and the Easter scene kicked off. I decided that since I missed last year's big Easter egg hunt, I was gonna work extra hard this year to make up for it. I looked and looked and looked, collecting as many eggs as I could and turning them in for candy and prizes. In the end, I hauled home a great egg-shaped lamp. I am enjoying the light it adds to my previously dimly lit moghouse. Reading a good book before bed has been so much easier on the eyes since Easter.
I know, you're thinking, "Surely there must have been more you did." You are right. Not long after the Easter bustle died down, I had nothing but idle time on my hands between training sessions with my apprentice and my own training sessions. I got pretty bored during that time, so I decided to take up a craft or two. After visiting the various guilds around the world, I decided to tan. No, not the lying-on-the-beach tan. I chose to learn how to craft with leather. Eventually I found out that tanning was closely tied to weaving, so I decided to take up that craft as an accompaniment to tanning. These past few weeks have been filled with the repetitive farm, craft, farm, craft cycle, making sure I was filling those idle voids in my days. The results are taking shape, too. I've been making plenty of clothing lately. The hard part is getting people to buy it. I was so proud of myself when I made my first tunic, I have worn it nearly non-stop. One sleeve is a little longer than the other, but I'm still proud of it. I anticipate a lot more of this crafting cycle during my downtime, so there may be another hefty gap before my next update. But rest assured that when something interesting does happen, I will bless my enormous fan base with another update. Until next time, live long, and prosper. | comments: Leave a comment |
| All work and no play makes Khaless a dull Galka. That is the thought that spurred me to take a little vacation. I had been caught up in doing all that hard work, from training, to mining, to treasure hunting, that I had burned out. So, I traveled to the local Travel Agency in Bastok to see what my options were. There were quite a few places to choose from. I didn't much care for a hiking trip in Beaucedine Glacier or an archaeological expedition in the Maze of Shakrami, so I opted for a boat trip and a day at the beach on Purgonorgo Isle.
I made the reservations and immediately grabbed my sandals and headed for Bibiki Bay. The boat trip was amazing. It sailed through the crystal blue waters, dodging whirlpools, and being escorted by dolphins, until I finally reached the island. Purgonorgo Isle is home to some exotic wildlife, ranging from rainbow-colored fish, to tropical birds, to mandragoras that stayed out in the sun too long. Here's a pic of me examining one such creature.

I also came across the local entertainment on the isle. This Mithra introduced me to clamming and even taught me how to do it. At first I was having a ball with this new means of entertainment. That faded quickly when I realized how much lighter my wallet was getting. The Mithra wasn't too pleased with me when I brought back a broken bucket. I don't think I'll be allowed to clam on that isle anytime soon.
After the clamming ended, I decided to take a dip in the lagoon. The refreshing, clear water was a nice way to relax. I often imagined myself in an old Nestea commercial as I took a backwards plunge into the water.

Well, to make a long story short, A few hours of swimming and 3 sand castles later, the sun was setting on Purgonorgo Isle and the boat came to take me back to the mainland. Thus my relaxing vacation ended and I set off back to Bastok. My moogle wondered where I was all day and when I told him, I got the reply, "And you didn't take me, Kupo?" The moral of the story is this: Take a vacation to remain sane, but don't forget your Moogle. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I ran into my hero, Zied, the other day. He was the Galka who started me along the path of the Dark Knight. He praised me for my progress and told me of some treasure hiding away that only Dark Knights could use. These treasures were said to be resting in the depths of Eldieme Necropolis, Davoi, and Castle Oztroja (well, that one would be "heights" instead of "depths"). Excitedly, I scrounged up some help and started looking for the first treasure. Travelling through Eldieme Necropolis was enough to make anyone shiver (Except for monks who love that kind of stuff). Everywhere I looked there was some form of skeleton, ghost, or phantom. Eventually we reached the area rumored to house the treasure. After looking around, I spot a box lying in the corner. I went over to it and examined it. Surely this was what Zied spoke of. So, I grab hold of the top and pull...nothing. The damn box was locked. Well, where there is a lock, surely a key must be near. My group and I fanned out and started looking for a key. The skeletons around didn't much care for our presence, so we had to fight off several during our search process. After hours of searching we decided to meet back at our meeting point and head out.
Waiting for us at our meeting point was the ugliest skeleton in the place. Negotiations failed so we were forced to fight out way past it. The battle lasted what seemed like an hour, but in the end we prevailed. Just as we were about to leave, I notice something. The skeleton dropped something metallic. Upon further examination I find that the skeleton dropped a key. Quickly I grabbed the key, dashed over to the box, unlocked it and opened it to find...a rusty piece of crap. I was expecting a shiny treasure, but all I get is an old pair of gauntlets. Dismayed, we leave and head to Jeuno. I decided to stop off at the store and see what I could sell them for. Someone inside recognized the craftmanship and told me that they had been forged by a famous smith in the distant past. He also said I should try to find someone to reforge them.
After searching all over town, I find some old tools lying around. All of a sudden everything goes dark and a ghostly figure approaches me. This specter claimed to be the one who forged the gauntlets. He tells me that to reforge them I had to go to Castle Zvhal and get some special flame that burns only there. "Right, ok," I think. But out of curiosity, I decide to go and see what I could find. Sure enough, I find some mystical flame perched upon a lampstand. Only problem was I couldn't get it to transfer onto the stick I had brought with me. I noticed that the stick didn't even get hot when put in the fire. Curiously, I put my hand in the flame. To my surprise, it didn't burn. I was even able to grasp the flame as if it were solid. When I got back to Jeuno, the figure approached me again. This time he took the flame and old gauntlets and forged them into a like-new state. Thus I got the first of 3 treasures spoke of by Zied.
After shaking off the ghastly fear from the last trip, My group and I traveled to Davoi in search of the second treasure. We went through the darkest and scariest place in all of Davoi to find the next small box. Like the first, it too was locked. We decide to skip the search and look for the ugliest orc in the area. Finding him, we engage in battle. This fight also seemed to take an hour. In the end, we were victorious and we aquired another key. By this time word of the orc's demise spread through Davoi, and needless to say, they weren't too happy with us. Getting back to the box proved difficult. I was dodging one orc after another, trying to squeak by undetected. Finally, back at the box, I popped in the key, this time expecting to find another rusty piece of crap. Surprisingly, I find a nice, new piece of pants wearable only by Dark Knights. Quickly, I dashed out of Davoi, new treasure in hand, and travelled back to Bastok where I planned to enjoy a few days rest.
I have not attempted to find the third treasure yet, and I plan to take some time off from the treasure hunt before heading into Castle Oztroja. I'm grateful to still be alive and well after two brushes with terror. Keep in touch and I'll let you know how the next treasure hunt goes. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Holidays are by far my favorite time of year. After scaring up a little fun at Halloween, I set my sights on the next holiday - Christmas. I love the season of giving and receiving...mostly receiving. Christmas in Bastok was a little different this year. Sure, the same old decorations adorned the Markets' fountain as they have as long as I can remember, but unlike anything I've ever seen before, some nutcase was running around town. The moogles referred to this person as the "Smilebringer." This dude was on a quest to give presents to every kid in Bastok. I admit, the children did have smiles on their faces, but so did the Smilebringer. Wanna know why? It's because the citizens of Bastok were duped into delivering the goods so this wanna-be Santa could get away with not doing any work. Oh, and on top of that, this pyramid scheme was designed to get others to get hooked on giving. Wouldn't ya know it, this Smilebringer was the sole supplier of presents for the kiddies. Yeah, that's why there was a smile plastered to this person's face. "Was I duped," you ask? That's none of your business.
In other news, I had a little extra gil on hand this year so I decided to buy a tree. Everyone was doing it, so I thought I might as well not be a Scrooge. I searched far and wide for the perfect tree, and then I found him. There was a tree maker visiting Bastok for a few days so I thought I'd pay him a little visit. This grumpy guy was like the Smilebringer because he made me run errands for the parts for my tree. He said he was too busy to do it himself, but I think he was just lazy. I gotta hand it to him, though. He makes one heck of a tree. Excited about having a new tree, and a little dismayed for having traveled halfway across the world looking for this guy just to end up back at home, I sprinted back to my moghouse as fast as a Galka could and promptly decorated my new tree.

That about covers the details of my Christmas fun. I guess now that the holidays are coming to a close, it'll be back to the training. Who knows, maybe someday soon I will find another adventure waiting for me. When that happens, I'll be sure to tell all about it. | comments: Leave a comment |
| It's Halloween, and we all know what that means. Time to tell scary stories! Not too long ago I was wandering through the desert with some friends. I didn't know that this day would be like no other. All of a sudden, the wind started to pick up, then came a low rumbling sound, not unlike a freight train. Then, without warning, it appeared! (Scared yet?) Not far from me dropped the biggest desert tornado I've ever seen. If that wasn't bad enough, it had a friend.

Going with my first instinct, I headed off toward the oasis town nearby to take cover. But, no matter how fast I ran, nor which direction, the tornado duo seemed to know my path. Closer came the terror from above. Just as it seemed all was in vain, I spotted a nearby cave. Safe for the time, I contemplated my next move as Dahlmels and Scorpions hit the ground outside. I found my way to the other end of the cave and, without hesitation, headed toward town at full speed. Thinking the worst was behind me, I turned the corner to find a third tornado staring me down. Lucky for me, this one seemed to be more interested in a nearby Antican than this lowly Dark Knight. Long-story short, I made it to town safely and waited out the storm. I still don't know what happened to my friends.
So, the Halloween party started up in my hometown about a week ago. I missed the festivities last year, so I was determined to make up for it this year. I stocked up on treats for the townsfolk and started making my rounds. Some nice people even gave me some stuff too. I don't know if most of them bought their stuff from the same stores or what, but I seemed to get a lot of these jack-o-lanterns. I thought that I might want to dress up and scare a few people in town, so I sat down to try and figure out what I would parade around as. I decided to dress up as the ugliest, most disgusting, most vile, and just plain scariest creature I could think of.

That's right, I was an ELVAAN for Halloween! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!! I scared plenty of people with this outfit. I had a lot of fun this Halloween and I'm looking forward to next year. It will be hard to top this year's costume, though. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| I've been traveling a lot since the last update. I started out traveling to Giddeus to retrieve some book, and ended up getting myself a new scythe. I've been to Beadeaux a few times, gathering stuff like curses, dirt, and a strance piece of Magicite. I picked up a second piece of Magicite when I was in Davoi later that day. I decided to travel through the Jungle down south of the mainland, but catching the airship to Khazam proved difficult. When I got to the airship dock, it was about to take off without me. I ran as fast as I could, but they closed the doors before I got there. That didn't stop me from riding, though. I jumped on at the last second and hitched a ride in a most peculiar spot.

The airship conductor had a shock when he opened the doors upon arriving in Khazam. I wandered through the woods and eventually came upon a pretty waterfall. I saw a tunnel behind it, so I thought I would wander through. I eventually came upon a hidden town called Norg. I couldn't figure out why anyone would want to live in a place like that. I found a guy with a wierd name in Norg who needed help. I had nothing better to do, so I decided to help. Guess what, helping involved more traveling! I took myself to the Highlands I know so well, and then to a new place with large trees called the Sanctuary of Zi'tah. After making my rounds I returned to the oddly-named person in Norg. I was expecting a nice reward, but he told me to wait 3 days. Well, I decided to explore Norg a little more while i waited. I talked to people, watched a boat come and leave, and I even gambled and won 10,000 gil. Anyway, after the 3 days were up, I talked to the oddly-named person again, but still no reward. However, the leader of those people came out and gave me a cool Katana and taught me the way of the Samurai. I decided, "What the hey," and began some side-training as a Samurai.

I thought maybe it would be a nice addition of skills for this Dark Knight. Who knows, I may use these newly found skills to take Dark Knights to new horizons. I'll let you know how it turns out in the next update, so keep checking back. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| It has been quite a while since my last update. I have been around the mainland countless times and a few times I even left the mainland. After my last update I spent some time farming anything I could get my hands on. I returned to Dangruf Wadi for some treasure hunting. During my hunt I found out where those lizards were camping out, so every time I'm in the area I look to see if those beasts are showing their faces. To date I've rid Wadi of 14 of those lizards, and got some more armor while I was at it. I didn't stay in Wadi forever, though. I spent a few days running around the Horutoto Ruins near Windurst. I spent a lot of that time intimidating balloons and killing some posessed Elvaan. I even took some time to freak out the random Taru that would wander into the ruins and open the wrong door. I'll bet I caused many a messed pants in there.

Many times while farming in Wadi I would go to my secret spot where I find some special grass growing and harvest it. Too many times I had to run off high hares that had been eating on the grass. I took a lot of batches to Jeuno to sell to the younger adventurers running around. The first one's always free, but after that it costs them.

My tail was pretty sore after that trip. Anyway, I also took some time to train with members of the Kradian Army. I found out that I like training with them better than random people who don't know each other. I decided to make it a normal routine to hang with this crew to make sure I don't neglect my training. Besides, they're a bunch of goofballs and they're a lot of fun to talk to.

Well, between the training, farming in Wadi, and picking up loose change dropped by Taru fleeing from me in fear, I got enough skill and money to get myself a new outfit. I don't care for the fact that I look like those snooty San D'orians, but it's some nice gear and it works for me.

One more thing worth mentioning is the very odd site I saw while passing through Bastok recently. I see people all the time trying to sell their random crap, but there was one Taru in particular that was in a very peculiar position. I think what happened was that the Bastokan street repair crew got to fixing some steps and failed to notice the little Taru sitting there.

That should do it for this update. I plan on continuing the farming and training with the Kradian Army for some time, so I will leave you with that until next time that I decide to do something interesting enough to talk about. Stay tuned for our next episode. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Welcome back. Last update left me in Yhoator Jungle gaining experience by beating on plants. Well, eventually I got enough of that and left. I decided to head back to Bastok for a break from the training. While I was there I found a new playground near there. That place is Dangruf Wadi. I've been there before, but only as long as necessary. I never stuck around for long until recently. I was showing my scythe to all the rabbits and goblins that hang out there. The rabbits were nice enough to give me a bunch of weed, which I turned around and sold to the younger adventurers in Jeuno. They pay outrageous amounts for that grass. Anyway, back to Wadi. The gobbies there were so nice. They would even from time to time give me a key, which I later found out was used to open treasure chests in Wadi and get some extra gil. I eventually ran across a large lizard, but when I pulled my scythe out to show it, the lizard attacked me. Well, I had to kill the lizard, and when it was all over, a suit of mail was left behind.

Needless to say, the gobbie nearby bolted after seeing the outcome of that match. And I was having so much fun playing with them, too. Well, it turns out that the lizard has family, because later as I was wandering around, another one wearing the same type of mail come after me. Luckily I survived that fight too. I never had any more attacks like that, so I guess I got em all. Either that or they are hiding from me.
Well, after a few weeks of selling weed in Jeuno, I decided to strap on my gear and head back out to train some more. This time I ended up in Garliage Citadel. This place was a dusky, narrow place filled with bats and large bugs. I got plenty of experience fighting off the bats and bugs, but it soon became too creepy to stay. Heading out, I decided to go back to Bastok where I found a new hobby, fishing. I found fishing to be a good release after a long day. So far I've caught a few fish and a couple buckets. I'm not too good at it yet. I'm thinking of keeping the buckets as decorative items, but if I decide to get rid of them, I know who to send them to. Well, that about catches you up on my recent travels. Check back again for the next update. Who knows what I'll have caught by then. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I've been doing a lot of training since my last update. I eventually completed my training in Qufim, which was a welcome change. I was tired of training for the time being, so I decided to run around doing other things at home. For a change of pace I decided to learn how to be a thief. I have yet to reach my desired skills in that class. During my thief training a buddy of mine asked me for some help. It turns out they were doing an expeditionary force run to Gusgen Mines. My job was to clear a path to the back for them. So that's what I did. I took my great sword in my hands and hammered every undead creature from the front to the back of the mines. After that I watched my buddy and all the other members of the force get slaughtered by a couple ugly looking jellies. I'm sure glad I wasn't fighting those.
Anyway, after I got out I went back to learning the way of the thief...until I got tired of it. I got tired of it when I was running through Valkurm Dunes seeing nothing but a bunch of idiots who knew nothing about how to be a team player. I guess that's when I longed for my Dark Knight training again. So, I suited back up and headed out to Kazham for the second time. This time was different than the first time I was in Kazham. People seemed like much better team players than last time. I also saw something I've never seen before. Some guy was taking a dip in the ocean, but his boots weighed too much and he was just walking on the bottom of the ocean.

I don't know when he decided to get out, but I'm sure that was the last time he decided to go swimming in his armor. Anyway, I eventually ended up in Yhoator Jungle because people were generally smarter over there. Long story short, I got lots of experience avoiding gobs over there. There were a few minor setbacks, but I did reach new heights as a Dark Knight. I got to wear some new, cool armor and I got myself a new, sleek, black scythe.

I'm having fun with that new scythe. I'm still in the jungle as of now, but my training there is coming to and end soon. I can't say I'm sad about that. Stay tuned for the next chapter in my adventure. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, my time in Windurst was not uneventful. I went to help out the people who needed it, and I found myself selling hats. That was the most boring job I had ever taken. Along the way I ran across a group of kids called the Star Onion Brigade (S.O.B. for short). This bunch of wily kids made it their mission in life to torture some ill-fated Mithra whom they believed to be some kind of thief. I saw lots of thieves in Windurst, but they only wanted to pick on one in particular. I tried my hand at gardening, but that didn't turn out very well. Eventually someone sent me out of town on a quest and along my way I ran across a Mandragora, but it had a funny name. I didn't like the name, so I killed it.

Anyway, I eventually made myself known in Windurst and I was given an Aspir scroll for my troubles. That's all I really wanted anyway. I'm sure those little S.O.B.s will miss me.
So, after all that I decided that it was time to get back to training, but before I could do that, a fellow Galka requested my help to exterminate a bunch of Quadav. How can I resist? That's gotta be the #1 thing on my "to do" list. We wandered down to Bedeaux, which is where the Quadav like to hang out. That's when the fun began. We roasted so many Quadav that I lost count around 20. So, after a slaughter-fest and a bowl of turtle soup, I decided to head to Qufim to continue my training.
As I got there I wandered upon a nice group who graciously decided to allow me to fill their final position. We decided to do a little crab hunting since we were all there, so our great leader started bringing them and we tossed them on the fire (courtesy of our Black Mage) and we were enjoying a seafood dinner by sundown. Nighttime in Qufim is a bad time. We must have been in a bad spot because it seemed that the ugly undead monsters decided to appear at our feet to drive us back into the tower. When morning arrived, we all breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the undead were gone for another day.

The sun was a rare, welcome sight to us as it lit up the tower behind us. It was just another way nature tells us that no matter how dark days may seem, the sun will always be back to light up the sky. This is where my adventure pauses until I get out of that place. Keep in touch as I continue my training in Qufim and update my progress along the way.

| Well, I decided to spend some time in Valkurm to train for a while. But first I did some buying and selling to get myself ready. I was wondering through Bastok Markets one day and I saw a moogle giving out goodies. I don't know why, but he gave me a Red Bull energy drink. Ya know, I thought their slogan was just that, a slogan, but apparently it really does give you wings.

Weird, huh? Anyway, they went away eventually, but not before I got the idea to try to use them. That didn't turn out too well. I guess the wings won't support a Galka's weight. I bet a Taru Taru could soar. So, after my consumeristic escapade, I found myself in the dunes. Training started out very slow. I tended to find all the new people who were in the dunes for the first time. I wanted to pull my tail off in all the frustration. Luckily that didn't last forever. I eventually found some experienced people there who knew what the hell they were doing.
I spent a couple weeks there before deciding to move on. I found myself many times emptying the sand out of my boots. Those corns are gonna hurt for a month. Anyway, I made my way back to Bastok for some more consumerism and to learn some new spells. I heard that a few Windurstians needed some help with a few odds and ends around town, so I'm gonna head over there and help them out, being the nice Galka that I am. I even hear there's an Aspir scroll in it for me if I'm good enough. That will be my next destination. It will be nice to take a break from the training for a while. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, the Dark Knight training has been interesting, to say the least. I've been using a cool scythe to kill stuff, which is a blast in itself. It doesn't come without its disadvantages, though. I tend to miss my attacks with the scythe. But, I get to wear some cool, new outfits. Well, actually they're just recycled from my Warrior days.

When I started out, I was killing worms in 2 to 3 shots and getting a massive amount of experience with no help at all. I killed monters all over Gustaberg in the first few days. I was having a ball. I eventually had to move on to the Palborough Mines to hunt some quadavs as part of my training. Did I ever mention how much I hate quadavs?
Well, eventually the quadavs got on my nerves, so I needed a change of pace. So, I went back to good ol' Valkurm Dunes. This place makes quadav hunting sound good. I'm not sure why, but my days in the dunes as a Dark Knight are harder than when I was a Warrior. It seems all I can find are stupid people this time around. I forsee many raises in my future until I can get out of there. | comments: Leave a comment |
| I am one worn-out Galka. My 2 months of training took me all over the place. I first went back to the popular Qufim Isle looking for some experience. That didn't work out too well at first. I spent a lot of time in there and not making much progress. Some guys there gave me the idea to travel to a new place called Kazham. This is a place where the Mithra originally came from. It lies to the South of the mainland on an island only accessible by airship. But, to be able to get there, first I had to get a pass. This involved yet another quest to obtain 3 keys from around the world.
One just so happened to be close to my hometown of Bastok, so I decided to head there first. I found out that getting this key involved killing some Quadavs. That just so happened to be my favorite thing to do. I ran up to the Palborough Mines and found a few other guys looking for the same keys that I was searching for. It was fairly amusing, because as I was trying to meet up with them, they killed a Quadav that dropped a key right into my pocket. I didn't even have to work for that one. I was thinking, "All right! This will take no time at all!" Anyway, after that I took off to Ghelsba (the place I killed an orc earlier) near San D'oria to hunt another key. Again, I found help there from a nice guy who was getting too many keys. A few kills there and I had my second key. So, from there I went to Giddeus (where I met Benaiah) to find another key. First, I went to Windurst for supplies and who do I find? Yeah, I found Benaiah sitting in the middle of Windurst trying to sell stuff. He must have been in a good trance, because I talked, and I poked, and I kicked Benaiah, but he didn't respond. "Oh well," I thought. I took off to Giddeus without him, even though his help would have been much appreciated. It wasn't long before I found help in Giddeus, and soon after, acquired my final key. From there I went back to Jeuno so I could get my pass and take a ride to Kazham. That was the first time I rode on an airship. I felt like I was on top of the world. I could see everything from there, including some familiar sights.

Kazham is an interesting place, but I can't stand the jungle outside Kazham. Yuhtunga Jungle was where I was supposed to train next. This place, even with a map, is the most confusing place I've been. So, the real training began, and I'm not talking about the numerous gobs that stupid people trained to Kazham's doorstep. Before long I was a little too powerful for Yuhtunga Jungle, so I traveled to the next area, Yhoator Jungle. Only a few weeks of training there and I was ready to take on the quest to become a Dark Knight. Thank God, too, because I was getting tired of that jungle.
I was looking forward to going home. I longed to sleep in my own bed. But first, I went to obtain the blade of darkness and learn the spirit of the Dark Knight. With that crappy blade, I vanquished many enemies. I could feel the rush of blood lust swelling up inside me with each swing of the sword. It was as if I was being overcome by the dark side of the force...wait, that's the wrong game...sorry. Where was I? Oh, yes. After a day of fighting with the sword, I felt different. Now, I am a true Dark Knight. My goal has been accomplished. Now, it's time for a new goal. But first, I must hone my skills as a Dark Knight and master each technique. Stay tuned for the next update. You never know when something interesting will happen. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, I finally took off to Windurst to complete the mission I was on. When I took off from Jeuno, I passed through some strange lands. I first had to face the dreaded Sauromugue Champaign. I couldn't stop to take a picture since there was so much aggressive beasts here. There really wan't much here anyway. It kinda looked like a wasteland with a petrified forest and some old ruins mixed in. It wasn't a very asthetically pleasing place to be. My good ol' chocobo got me through that place and into the next, the Meriphataud Mountains. At first, it didn't look like there was anything here other than some odd spherical cacti. The road through here looked like a dried up river bed. Halfway through I came upon a huge surprise, and I do mean huge. There is apparently a large backbone stretching across this area.

I eventually found out that it's called Drogaroga's Spine. I wonder who, or what Drogaroga is. Anyway, after getting through the Mountains, I came into just the opposite, a canyon, Tahrongi Canyon to be exact. This place isn't very asthetically pleasing either. There are some interesting trees here, but other than that there's not much vegetation at all. But apparently something used to live there. I came across the remains of a huge beast.

Well, after getting through the canyon, I came into the area of Sarutabaruta This place is much nicer than the other areas I went through to get here. Here's an early-morning shot of me enjoying the view.

It was so nice I almost forgot I was trying to get to Windurst. So, I hiked across the field and into Windurst. Windurst is a nice town, but there's too many confusing twists and turns for me. After searching the whole town, I eventually found the Bastokan consulate. The consulate filled me in on the details and told me to head over to Giddeus to destroy some fiend that was about to take out the Yagudo beastmen. I didn't see the point in protecting beasts that are trying to kill me. But, despite that, orders are orders.
While searching for help, I found a new friend names Benaiah. We searched for hours for help, even sitting at the entrance to that fiend waiting for help to arrive. Eventually some guys cane along to help, so we went in to take on that fiend. It turns out it was just some elaborate scheme to draw us in. Some funny little floating eyeball sicked his pet dragon on us. No biggie, because we totally thrashed it and the floating eyeball. He said something wierd about a shadowlord returning, or something like that, so Benaiah and I returned to the consulate and told the story. She sent us back to Bastok to tell the President, so that's what we did. I never knew the President was such a jerk. He didn't even care how my trip went. Anyway, I got awarded rank 3 and got a nice piece of cash, so I was happy.
Next on my agenda is to obtain the Dark Knight class, so I'm heading to Qufim Isle to do some training before learning how to become a Dark Knight. Stay tuned for the next chapter in my story. | comments: Leave a comment |
| Well, I decided to head home to Bastok before heading out toward Windurst. I did the usual auction check and a little farming for stuff to sell. While taking a break on a hill in South Gustaberg, some kind mage decided to cast float on me for no reason. Good thing too, because that rock was hurting my butt.

Eventually I took off toward Windurst. My journey took me through the Konschtat Highlands and North to the Pashow Marshlands. This place is pretty gloomy and dangeruos. I tried really hard to avoid the Malboros here.

Thank God for Chocobos. Without them I'd never survive the Marshlands alone. I wouldn't have survived the next place either. After getting through the Marshlands I wanderen into the Rolanberry Fields. This is probably one of the most peaceful areas in Vana'diel. I'd like to build a house here someday if it weren't for the Quadavs that would kill me as soon as I walk out my front door. Here's a pic of me on the road through Rolanberry Fields.

Well, thanks to the Chocobo, I got to Jeuno, which is where I am currently. I've never been past Jeuno, so the next stretch of my journey will be through unexplored territory. So, keep in touch and I'll let you know what happens on the way to Windurst. | comments: Leave a comment |
| This is my first entry in what I plan to make an ongoing journal of my Final Fantasy XI character's adventures. First of all, my character's name is Khaless and I'm playing on the Alexander server. I am a Galka from Bastok, and I'm currently a level 24 Warrior with level 11 Monk as a subjob. I didn't think about doing this until recently. I also took some screenshots of some of the places I've been.
I guess the first part of my journey was pretty inconsequential. I really didn't do anything outside North and South Gustaberg until I reached level 15. Here's a screen of me at the top of a hill in South Gustaberg screaming, "I'm king of the world!!!"

At first I thought that I was walking forever just to get to the far end of South Gustaberg. Here's a shot of me overlooking the Fumaroles, which is the westernmost point in South Gustaberg.

If that wasn't a far enough walk, I really thought I was walking my legs off to get here.

Drachenfall is probably the only cool sight in the Gustaberg area. There's hardly even any vegetation. Eventually I made my way to the Konschtat Highlands. There's more vegetation there, but the weather is very unpredictable. One minute you'll have sunny skies, the next minute you'll be heading for cover as thunder claps in the skies and it starts raining. Afterward, you'll even encounter dust storms. At this point, I didn't think Gustaberg was such a big area anymore. Here's a shot of me standing near a few of the numerous windmills in the Western part of the Highlands.

I had originally shot this pose during a dust storm, so it was funny at the time, but the picture was too dark, so I had to reproduce it during the day, with no dust storm. The many trips into the Highlands weren't without problems. I'll think twice next time I eat mushrooms I see on the ground.

From level 17 to 21 I spent my time in Valkurm Dunes. At first, the crabs were almost too tough, but now, at level 24, I can solo some of the goblins. Just be careful out there. The sun will over do your tan within minutes if you're not careful. I found myself looking for one of the beaches on many occasions so I could take a dip.

Eventually, I went back to Bastok to undertake a mission that would take me to San d'Oria and Windurst. So, off to San d'Oria I went. When I passed through the Dunes, I came to La Theine Plateau. This area was pretty cool. There is lots of vegetation, which is something I'm not used to being from Bastok and all. I really enjoyed the canyons lining the outer rim. Here's a shot of me so close to one I about fell in. I'm waving all cheezy-like as if I were at the Grand Canyon.

I had to walk a long way to get across the Plateau, but eventually I came into the land of Ronfaure. There are lots of trees and hills here, so I had to ask for directions. I found a friendly looking fellow here, so I asked him how to get to San d'Oria. He turned out to be not as friendly as I thought.

I wandered around a little and saw lots of people fighting this huge tree with sparkles at the top. It didn't look too friendly, so I took off a different way. I eventually got tired of walking around so I took a break beside a cool, bubbling brook.

Long story short, I did get to San d'Oria. I was expecting a grand reception, but all I found were a bunch of snobbish Elvaan with a superiority complex. I chatted with the Bastokan consulate thinking I'd have at least one decent conversation. I sure was surprised when all he had to say was, "Go kill an orc." So, I went to kill an orc, but not just any orc, but the Orc of orcs. I didn't know orcs were so easy to kill. I returned to the consulate after killing the orc and he got furious. Well, how was I supposed to know he didn't want me to bring the head back. I thought he wanted proof of my deeds.
Well, that brings us up to the present. The consulate decided it was best to send me to Windurst. I think he just didn't want to see me anymore. I've got to cross some rough terrain to get through Jeuno and on to Windurst, so keep checking back and I'll update as my adventures take an interesting turn. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
